Read the poem several times, underlining the words you dont know -
Lookup the words that you dont know in a Theasures (Not - an Arabic/English Dectionary!!)i
Read the poem again... and try to read between the lines -

I am pretty sure you'll have so much to say explaining the poem after you REALLy understand it

Your English is pretty good... you'll do fine

You might know information about the poet and about the context of the poem (i.e. when he wrote the poem or why)... this usually helps alot

As from the title of the poem (Heat wave).. we can pretty much predict that the poem is talking about heat .. the poem is basically explaining a scenario of a very hot day .. right??s

Picture this in your mind
the sun, very well centerd in the sky like an arch, spreading its heat all over, that even larks cannot fly beneath this arch

The sun with all its power and magisty during a this hot day is the "King" of the day (dominating lion)

Rough mane on burning stone... which is the sun ... the sun is a burning stone ... and its rays are forming a rough mane around it

the wind is still , that not a harebell shakes (harebell are the flowers with a blue top).. and thus the (blue flags of wind are folded up)i

:self explanatory
Here on the hill the air is still
As water in a cup.

Just picturing this scene ... gives you so much into it!!!!i

Obviously, there has to be a hidden meaning / message in this poem, but sorry i dont know this poet or even the circumstances that she wrote the poem in


its very essential to know what made the poet write this poem, in order to analyze it more deeply and read what between the lines
