we dont use ( is ) with the pronoun ( I )
but we use ( am )
eg. I am a student . I am in class 6.
We use ( is ) with the pronouns ( she , he or it )
eg . she is a beaytiful lady.
He is a doctor.
it is a black cat .

on this post i am trying to take a next step on what our freinds Oman_austeralia_boy and miss spoon and others of who i might have missed their names right now have started.....

when it was a suggestion... now it is going to be in to action

this page is going to be for anything related to English Grammer.... here we are going to discuss rules of English grammar and also accept any questions, doubts and clarifications....

please.... do feel free to add what you know and correct others in case of any mistakes happening.....BUT... with no sensitivities or misunderstandings for the good of all....

IRREGULAR AND REGULAR VERBS

i have learnt that there is no particular rule for regular and irregular verbs..... as for other rules in the Grammar of English

therefore to get to know the regular verbs and the irregulars all we have to do is memorising them after knowing the correct forms of each word

in english we have three basic tenses for verbs.... which are:
1. the Infinitive..... also known as the verb to be.
For example, to read, to write, to study..... etc
it has to be proceded by to followed by the base form of the verb

2. Present Tense
for example, write, read study...etc

3. Past Tense
and that is when the action of this verd has been done allready.... it was something in the past
For Example, ate, read, wrote, studied...etc
there should be a specified time of the past included.... e.g, yasterday, last night, and so forth....

There are also other tenses but are more complicated.... though understanding these basic ones will help learning the other ones latter on.

when we use i as a pronoun, then the verb to be that has to be used should be am.... as has been explaind by land of sorrow

but when you want to use i as a latter, then you should use the verb to be is
example, I is the nineth latter in the English alphabets

If I were you I should have done so and so

max99 you are absolutely right about the use of were there.....

though the questrion was away from that .... i will take the opportunity and add something to that so it might get clearer....

was baisically is the pasttenss of is and am.... therefore we use it to indicate that what we wanna talk about had happened in the past

Examples: i am a student at villanova university

he is a student at SQU

i was a student at mazoon college

we also use were to indicate that something is impossible tO HAPPEN

for eaxaple: if i were in your shose i would have taken the chance to continue my education

if i were max99 or miss spoon i would have rather finish my work first.;)

on those cases i have to use were because i can't be you, simply because that is impossible.....

it is impossible for me to be max99 or miss spoon...'cause i am a different person
to make it clearer here is one more example:
if i were in Phalesteen right now i would have fought against the israleians. But unfortunately i am here at the moment

hope i made it clear and useful..... if anyone would like to ask about something please do feel free to bring it up and anyone of us will try to answer for it

did & done

Here is it

I did my work yesterday

The work was done yesterday & completed we are in new day today and the work vanished no more existing

I have done my work

The work was done could be yesterday or any time in the past & here is it still with me

Therefore I conclude the difference is

Did = something in the past and not related to the present

Done = something in the past and related to the present

For example

Yesterday , last year , last month .....etc
Vanished

But

Today , this week , this mont , ....... etc
Still existing

I wish you could able to recognize the difference

we can use the sentence : i were.. u know that in the past continuous we say : i was reading, she/he was, you/they/we were reading . there is exception to use i were .. for exampleyou want to say
لو كنت مكانك ,كنت باقبل الوظيفة .
in english : if i were you, i would accept the job .
the reason of using i were is that iits impossible for you to become him ( the other person
