University of Hail is based in the Muscat area and is a centre for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. It is a relatively new University which does not rely particularly on technology to the extent that it should do in order to function efficiently. Mail is sent between departments in paper form and the use of computers is minimal and concentrated only in the Faculty of Computing.
For educational and administrative purposes UOH is divided into 2 buildings within 1 mile of each other. The main building has the Dean office, Registration department, Technical services department, Faculty of Engineering, Law, Business, English and Computing. The second building has Chairman Office, HR department, Central Lab and learning Center.
The main site comprises of 4 Floors (ground, first, second and third). Ground floor comprises Dean office and Registration department. First floor comprises Engineering departments and 2 laboratories, each laboratory contains 15 client computers and one server. Second floor comprises Technical services, English and Law departments. Third floor comprises Computing department and 4 high equipped and secure laboratories. Each laboratory contains 20 to 30 PCs and one server. In each floor every department comprises of up to 20 staff laptops. The staff machines are not networked. The laboratories at first and third floor have approximately 10 members of admin staff all with their own PCs and not networked. The registration department at ground floor and technical department at second floor have more than 15 staff members all with their own PCs and laptops but not networked. Only the laboratories in this building are wired network.
The second building consists of 3 Floors (ground, first and second). Ground floor contains central laboratory having 300 PCs and 2 servers. There is a wired network in laboratory but no connectivity with internet. First floor contains learning center having more than 50 PCs but without network. Second floor contains Chairman office and HR department with 15 staff members having wireless network and internet facility. The second building has approximately 10 members of admin staff in ground and first floor- again all with their own PCs/laptops and again not networked

1. Five PCs of every laboratory in main building should share a printer and there should be a single laser printing facility in each Laboratory.
2. Ten PCs in learning center should share a printer and there should be a laser printing facility for every 15 PCs.
3. Every department should have a printer and laser printer facility share by staff members.
4. All computers in department and laboratories should be wireless networked so that internal Email can be supported.
5. The wireless networks should be separated such that students must NOT be able to access the Staff and Admin segment.
6. Internet Access must be provided to ALL users.
7. Central laboratory in second building should wirelessly connect to learning center in second building and all laboratories in main building.
8. Both building of UOH should connect to each other through wireless technology.




