    • Dear ftoom
Welcome back, nice to see you again

Clothes usually reflects a way of living, culture, traditions and overall IDENTITY
I guess new fashions would just put all in one category

I do not mind seeing people wearing what ever they choose to as long as the dress is descent

Some tend to dress the tradition clothes on some special occasions as just to show IDENTITY

I would love to see others giving their views clearly and freely

Thank you dear ftoom and please let us see you again and again

    • Dear ftoom
I see it okay to wear new fashion or to wear old one, if it agree with Islam standard clothes

But do you know where the problem is??
It is in the word fashion itself because people are afraid of this word

      Do you know why?

Because this word is new, and people (most of them) don’t accept new things easily, especially who are old and they refuse the idea of updating things coz they say by doing this we are throw our tradition away.
    • Thank you dears for your respond

I agree with you brothers, also I write this article for addition:

The world has changed in every minute, each hour, every day and changes with it many concepts and principles. Also, maybe appears with this changing many new things and might many customs are buried under the sand forever. Perhaps these changing face many conflicts because, my society and the religion cannot accept them easily. In this topic, I will write about some new-fashion in my society, which are may acquired from other culture. There are many kinds of new-fashions in my society for both men and women such as: the style of dress, hairstyle and cosmetic surgery.

The style of dress is the first kind of new-fashions. By looking in our society, we find that the formal dress involved to covers the arms and legs for both sexes. For instance, Omani women cannot go to the beach and wearing beach clothing or short dress. It acceptable for men and women to wear decent clothes, but on nowadays, we some of people especially the young generation who start to change their style of dress approximately same as western’s clothes. For example, the men wear jeans trousers and shirt with many patterns that they not with our culture and for more exciting, they wear many jewelry whether on their necks or on their arms. On the other hand, women’s bodies in our culture are very chaste so, it must not see them from any foreign men cricket, women’s dresses often to be decent, but in the present time, we find that the some of the women tend to wear narrow and transparent clothes which make clear bodies. Also, some of them tend to taking off their scarf. Any way, all of these things have made conflicts, maybe because these things are forbidden in their religion and these are remind me to one proverb which said forbidden fruit is sweet.

There are several of hairstyles whether for men or women. We find them in the magazines or in television. In the past, the hairstyle in Oman is customary for each Omani; the women made braid, but the men left their hairs to grow until they reached to their shoulders. Nowadays we see many hairstyles for both sexes and there are hair paintings with different color. Actually, some of young generations in my society tend to imitate famous actors or football players hairstyles.

The cosmetic surgery is one of the new-fashion which are widespread especially amongst women. There are many kind of cosmetics surgery for instance, face-lifts and liposuction. In addition, this phenomenon is novelty in my society. So, some of people accept it and others not, because they believe that the cosmetic surgery is objection of nature which God made and it might change people’s identity. Besides, they accept cosmetics surgery for people who are exposed to any accident and it causes deformity in their faces or their bodies. Actually, the people who are accept, they want to improvement some thing in their bodies or they like changing them. Any way, every body has viewpoints, but in the end the decision goes back to him self.

In conclusion, the styles of dress, hairstyle and cosmetics surgery are kinds of new-fashions. In my society, some of people accept these new-fashion, but other people are not. Consequently, there are conflicts between the past and the present time. I believe that the human should be conscious so that, he does not take all the new-fashions, but he should choose the suitable new-fashions, which are not contrary to his moral and his principles.

Thank you and i hope that article to be useful for you

      with regard:

    • Hello,

In Oman, People do not accept new trends. I am not talking about obsene or offensive clothing. If we look at Kuwait or Saudia, people there care SO MUCH about thier clothes and the way they look, which is something we miss in Oman in general.

I swear, its disgusting sometimes when i see women (and men) in the shopping center with terrible appearences.
Its ok if they dont put make up. At least they should clean thier faces and feet, and wear decent clothes.

So basically, most (not all) omanis , i would say 75% of them, do not give a damn about thier appearences.

"God is beautiful and loves Beauty"

People in Oman would be more cheerful if (for once) they thought of following fashion and caring about their looks.

One advice, always wear what makes you comfortable and happy. NEVER care about what people say.
Because if you want to satisfy all peoples tastes, then you better just stay home in your PJs and never go out.
