WOW, We are being heard & seen

    • WOW, We are being heard & seen

Congratulations, Oman TV broadcast is covering the world. The boarders of the Sultanate are wide open, from east to west, and from north to south. A clear message, we are with you wherever you go

The decision by the Ministry of Information, by the concerned parties is a great and courageous move
To make your voice heard all over the world is some kind of a wish every body tries and fights to accomplish

In the mean time, I believe all Omanis abroad and all Arabs abroad would like to see a distinguished move in the programmes, programmes that would fulfill their needs and desires

Some would smile and say, Who Cares? Who watches Oman TV anyway? Do you think I shall be in Australia or Thailand and still watch Oman TV
I would say I bet you, you would

This is not an informative topic I write, it is a heading, and a title we all need to discuss, comment and try together to write the full story

      Thank you all
      Tenderness
    • Tenderness, I'm a bit confused and I need you to explain to me what's happening..

You are saying we are being heard and seen.. are there any changes happening in the Omani media??? as I understood

Do you mean if we need programs to be changed or are they are changing now?

sorry probably it's still morning and i cant comprehend what you are saying :P

      Cheers
    • Dear eL3aJoOoZ_NaWaR

I said nothing, I am saying nothing. It is you and others who need to say, whether Omani media is changing

All I said is Oman Television Transmission is covering the whole world. If this means something to you, if it implies media changes, if you see this development is conditional, if you think it is worthy to discuss.....just go on

If you think being in Argentina and still be able to listen to Radio Oman is a step forward......go for it

If being in Canada and still be able to see the fish market in Salalah.....just go for it

If you are in China and still can see your uncle winning in the Shoura elections......just go for it

      Thank you dear

    • mmm 6ayeb hadi a39abak.. wallah i still did not understand. what's wrong with you? you don't seem to be alright!!

I think everything is changing whether to better or worse case.. I think it does mean something to me that the omani media is covering many countries, but not all of course so i wont say the whole world.. it needs to be improved, however. but covering the news in another country doesn't imply media changes because the media can cover the news of a country for decades without changing it's strategy in the new it broadcasts the media.. I think it's worthy to cover other countries' news but what we also need to consider the content as well..

Well, see for me TV is not that important, but i really like the kids channels and news.. im still not satisfied with any of the news channels whether they are in english or arabic because they are all restricted to a policy..

I would like to watch channel because I want to stay to up to date with the local news.. but yeah honestly the omani media has changed, and there are good and bad things about these changes but hey we are doing mistakes and learning from our mistakes.. so let it be that way.. our job is to give them our feedback.. :)

      Cheers
    • Hahahahaha, Gosh
Looks my English is getting bad, I will write in Arabic
      #i
All I am saying is that Oman TV is being transmitted via 10 satellites to reach every home in the Globe after it had been covering the Arab world only

Being an Omani or Arab, what do you think of this move and effort

      BAS KHALAS

      hahahahahahahahaha
      $$-e
      :P

    • aaaaaaaaaaaaaah ok
excuse me 3ad you know im getting old.. it's not you!!
LoL and you are laughing at me.. poor me, im an old lady.. consider that!!

I think that is a very good move, for the omani media of course but for me it doesn't really matter.. as I told you that I watch couple of channels only and most of the things that I wanna know about is on internet.. especially when it comes to news, I need to look it up on internet..

To some extent I would care about expanding the number of sats that transmits oman tv, because again we need to stay up to date with the local news, we can't expect the news to be on the web immediately, i think! especially when it comes to breaking news.. as well as the football matches, i think they are important for the boys.. you need to watch it live, it's more fun..

Above all that, still the omani media needs to improve a lot of things, since we are now on air everywhere.. we need to have proper programs, ads..etc plz ma nabe netfa'9a7 :P
just kidding!! with all respect to the media people..

      Cheers
    • Thank you eL3aJoOoZ_NaWaR
I have never talked about expanding Oman TV coverage to cover the world to hear what pleases me personally. I do respect your point of view and all those coming to comment and add

One thing ought to be mentioned, people tend to forget when they hear about oman TV to jump up and start comparing it with other channels forgetting it is state TV and can in no way be compared to Al-jazeera news channel or Abu Dhabi sports channel for example

I would answer you and say, neither Al-jazeera nor Abu Dhabi shows me what is going in Oman, they would not ever show me a camel race or khareef scenens in Salalah, if you get my point

Well, I guess we both have so many things to add but without hearing others I think we need to shut up.....sorry
Thank you dear and I am really glad you are discussing such a topic

    • yes dear Tenderness , I agree with you tht omani channel now is every where, thanks to the ministry of information, we can watch the omani channel, and know the update news, and what is going on in oman when we are away from, for example in england where i study, and watch the omani programmes, because we miss oman so much,
      best regards
    • Thank you dear TearsofTheSun

I envy you, I do, not because you are in England, no way ... lol
but because you are watching Oman TV, and I am not saying it is the best channel, I envy you simply because you reminded me with some agony I had searching the the radion on the short wave looking for any arab broadcast station...enjoy it dear

Let me ask you this for the sake of discussion and information to us all, Imagine you had no Oman TV, how would you honestly feel? or you have never thought of that as you had it in England for so many years now, and what do you like to see more on it

Enjoy your stay wishing you the best of luck
      Take care

    • Dear ANGELS_EYES

Thank you for your opinion which is alhamdollelah goes in line with the majority here in the Sultanate

Like you said we should be proud of this move that made us heard and seen all opver the world

At the same time, I believe it is not a must that we, or all like Oman TV, and this is natural...tastes vary, no doubt

      Thank you dear

      10derness
    • Thank you dear Mrs.Unfaithful, and glad to see you back

Well, I may not agree with your point of view, and that is natural

I believe all state owned TV stations have admited it they cannot compete with other specialised or devoted to some kind of NEWS, SPORTS and ENTERTAINMENT

So all state TV tried to stand up as a local news and entertainment source which is directed at the OMANIS, in our case, and local people abroad

Non Omani can for sure enjoy Oman TV as it is a variety channel as well

What I wanted to say that Oman TV concentrates on local news, local sports, local entertainment to please omanis all over the world and next comes the Arabs. Oman YV knows for sure that Omanis and non Omanis go for news only channels for hot news, still trying to give all purpose channel
I tend to watch so many Arab channels that would please me, who promotes all country in the same way and as you mentioned Oman TV does

promoting Salalah is for Omanis and non Omanis

probably there is more to say and your comments are welcomed for the benefit of us all

      Thak you dear

I didn't think about it , because thanks to the internet we know what is happening in oman during my stay at england(for three months),so it is not a big deal,
.but some of the programmes we cannot watch it on the internet

    • I met a friend today, and one of the things we ealked about was projects, final year graduation projects. One project done by american girl was about TV commercials sound or
      audio level

You may have noticed that while, in peace, watching something on TV, the sound level goes up and loud when there is a break, commercial break. It is a tactic promotors use to draw attention of viwers. So this smart girl was working on keeping the same audio level with no distruptioo to us, the viewers

This tells us how important role TV plays in advertising and marketing, and all depends on how much are being seen and watched, how much audience you have

With Oman TV covering the world, we could see it plays a very important role in marketting the country worldwide

I know we talked a lot, but I wonder if you ever thought whether one TV channel is enough for OMAN? Do you like to see more channels? and if yes what would you like it or them to carry?I

      Thanks
      10derness

    • Tenderness, if the one channel that we have is good enough to be not divided then yeah we may not need another one. But we have people who have different needs, and interests. We need to target some group of people when having more than channel. I would really love to have another channel just for movies, or just for cartoon, or sciences, not news because of some political reasons that we cant be against but it would be very good to have several channels. Still we need to know, at this stage, do we really to do so?? How the people are going to react towards the new change. Dont they want everything in one channel only for the sake of making it a mixture of everything?

I honestly like the ART group as in the way they had every channel specialised in something, especially the education channel!! It's so helpful

      Cheers

    • I think one Omani channel is enough.

Its not quite to the standards yet. They need to improve it alot. The talkshows are a weak immitations of other programs. The movies and foriegn programs are a so oudated.

the only Wonderfull and amazing thing about oman channel is its value for traditional pure Omani spirit. The handicrafts , the costumes, and the views of the Omani villages and towns.
One channel is more that enough for doing that.

Having multiple channels is a little high expectation considering budget and management. EVEN if they did existm No one would watch them anyways, because they would be so weak and poorly managed.
focusing on one channel and trying to make it better and better is what we want.

I rather watch MBC and LBC anyways... i wouldnt care less for what Oman channel has! i am just giving my objective opinnion :)

    • Do we really need another Omani channel??

I don't think so brother for one simple obvious reason and I think that u all know it

Although Oman TV has many value social programs that many enjoy it but it's not the time that we should think about having a new channel

The point that I want to focus on is the kind of programs that Omani TV has. Just what Mrs. Unfaithful said that all of it is kind of da3ai for Oman tourism but that's not it dear sis. Oman TV presents a lot of social programs that discusses social Omani problems such as T7t al dawa , shoaoon 3elieah and of course Qahwat alsaba7. all of these programs are full with many various things which we really need to know about Oman. Things that talk about Oman inside social problems u don't know as u think so.

By the way guys I'm not Oman TV watcher but sometime I watch it when it's really worth. As we all can see that Omani TV is developing every year and maybe one day in the future we might have more than one channel

      See ya

    • Yes miss bomb, Oman's social problems and issues can only be discussed by Omanis themselves, as is "supposedly" done in Oman TV.

If these programs were of realistic value and are set toward a realistic goal, then believe me i would be one of the first to be watching Oman TV all the time,

It irritates me that those programs You montioned and others, are only a shield. A veil that tell us "look we care about you people", and thats it. Talk without anything done.
Ok, they would discuss the problems, like in "دائرة الضوء" or whatever its called, but after the program finishes, everything is erased. Nothing is actually done about what was presnted in the program.

Whats the use of discussing the social issues if nothing is to be done about them?

Not only that, problems are not presnted sincerely. They never target the true cause of any problem, they just talk and talk and go around the subject in circles without PIN-POINTING the actual cause in order to resolve it.

      In a Nutshell,
Those programs are useless. And again, the only value and benefit of Oman TV is its presentation fo oman's tradition and geography, which could benefit tourists alot and could evern help teach Omanis more about thier beautiful country. Thats all we get from Oman TV.

    • NaWaR
      Mrs
      أنوسة

I would really love to have another channel just for movies, or just for cartoon, or sciences, not news

I think one Omani channel is enough

By the way guys I'm not Oman TV watcher

I think what we mean by multichannel is like what NaWaR said, specialised or dedicated channels. Why don't we have a movie channel, sports, and kids channel
Three important recreational channels that would attract us and keep us away from other channels that could harm us, harm our children

What I wanted to say is that transmission costs for such multi channel is not costy, specially in digital form, and in fact is much much less that of the analogue channel. Operational costs would not be costy too, it is only a matter of video tape machines and off we go. Material is not too, films and other sports are there at a cheap rates waiting to sell

OK, we can let alone big international tournaments, I believe we are not intersted much in them apart from football. Still we can have all on terrestrial transmission that is coming soon so it will make it easy to broadcast with less costs like the european championship already on

I guess if we could manage that then Mrs. would say why not and Anoosah would watch more of oman TV
By the way, I am writing this because I am jealous of some other countries

      Regards

    • By the way, I think Im a Oman TV- watcher, I think the reason is I dont get to see it except for 7 weeks every 6 months. and by the way guys, I do notice a lot of changes every time I watch it. I really like it and I think Im stil a big fan of TV. Other channels are good, but Im more interested in the progress of our local channel.

Tenderness, I like it when you into technical stuff. Yeah, what you said is true, they should use the digital form because it's easier and cheaper. In fact, the people themselves can make these channels succeed or fail because they have to either like it or not!!

I think that one channel is enough, but why not have another one as an additional trial to see how people will responde as we do need this sort of a feedback to know whether we really need it or not!!

      Cheers..
    • NaWaR, the analogue has gone, no more analogue Oman TV

I waited in vain for a second channel, so I programmed oman tv on nos 1 and 2 and now I have 2 omani tv hannels

      hahahahaha

but to tell you the truth sometims we have 2 different channels, one on satellite and the other is terrestrial, not bad idea for some progs as i do not see a need to show all to the world via satellite

      well done oman tv

      :)
