قام مجلس البحث العالمي مشكورا بالموافقة على تمويل البحث التالي " دراسة و وصف الية مقاومة الملوحة في نبات النخيل" و عليه فإنه تتوفر حاليا منحة لباحث لما بعد الدكتوراه و منح دكتوراه و مقاعد لنيل الماجستير في الوراثة الجزئية و الهندسة الوراثية في النبات.
يشترط على الباحثين المتقدمين الحصول على معرفه كافيه في الوراثة الجزئية في النبات و المعلوماتية الحيوية و يشترط أيضا امتلاكهم لمنشورات علميه منشورة في مجلات دوليه.
الأولوية سوف تكون للباحثين و للطلبة العمانيين.

Open Postdoctoral, Ph.D. scholarships and Msc. studentship at the Department of Biology, College of Science
- Application deadline: May 1st or until filling the positions
The open positions are associated with the research project “Elucidation of Salt-Adaptation Mechanism in the Date Palm in Oman: Towards Improving its Survival and Productivity” funded by the Research Council of Oman.
-Open scholarships:
Preference will be given to Omani citizens. If no suitable Omani candidate can be identified, the position is open to others.
-Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Free seats: One only-
Sponsorship period: 2.5 years starting from January 2016-
Qualification requirements:-
-The candidate should be freshly obtained his Ph.D. degree in Plant Molecular Biology from a recognized university.
-The Candidate should have documented skills in bioinformatics and Plant molecular biology and had an experience to deal with large data sets.
-The candidate should have enough scientific writing skills and have previously published at least two scientific research articles in international journals.
-Postdoctoral fellowship will be renewed every six months based on the progress and the satisfaction.
-In addition to the religious and the national holidays, the postdoctoral fellow is qualified for only two weeks as vacations per year.
Salary: Negotiable based on the experience-
PhD Scholarships:
Free seats: Two only.-
Sponsorship period: 3 years starting from September 2015-
Qualification Requirements:
-The successful applicant must fulfill the requirements for admission to the SQU’s PhD program.
-Candidate who has obtained a Master's degree in the subject or related field will be given a priority.
-The Ph.D. student should have enough experiences in molecular biology. Plant molecular experience will be given a priority. Scientific publications in this field may be an advantage.
-Some skills in genomics, bioinformatics and proteomics will consider as an advantage.
-Emphasis will also be attached to the motivation and interest in the project, as well as personal suitability
-Ph.D. students scholarships will be renewed each term based on the progress and the satisfaction.
-In addition to the religious and the national holidays, the postdoctoral fellow is qualified for only two weeks as vacations per year.
Salary:-
The salary will be Tax Free and as per the guidelines of The Research Council (TRC) Oman and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
Master’s Degree studentship
Free seats: Two, Starting from September 2015
Qualification Requirements:
-Master’s degree studentships are welcomed from an accredited University with documented knowledge in Plant molecular Biology.
-The successful applicant must fulfill the requirements for admission to the SQU’s Master’s program.
