Hiiiii every body

....evry day we listen to the word (freedom) in news...
what is feedom....is it apply in our country or not??

girls especially know alot of things about freedom in OMAN

I thing omani girls are very lucky because there is no different between boys and girls like other countries...Nowdays girls and boys work to gather to develop our love(oman)...In the past there were no schools for girls just for boys ...now see the .different and compare...

well, exactly as the short film you provided shows us, freedom, in every sense, must be conquered, its not given

freedom of speech
freedom of expression
and others

We have to think of our freedom in the larger sense

boys and girls are going to school as opposed to only boys going to school, is surely a good thing, but this is not it

It is like putting a person in a cell with TV, magazines, books, CDs
no matter how advanced the life of this person is, he is still in a cell

so we can all have different interpretations, different views, on what we think freedom is, but certainly we all agree that it doesnt mean we have the right to intrude on others freedom

as u said in our oman there is no different every one say this but
no one accept it in the reality
do not agree with me??

and a big profe about what i have said is the artical that someone had talk about(girls and engineering

Well i do agree with you

Freedon is not only by "talking" about freedom, its by believing in it and in RESPECTING it

The article of "Girls and engineering" is a very good example that people are still not free to make thier choices... because society controls that

Sometime people have to give up thier dreams and wishes because of society constraints

Well I'm sorry about this but dont lie to your self about changing the culture .. just remember where you are now and its all came from our culture ..DONT LOOK MUCH FAR and if you want it to be a westren life you have to know that they dream of living the way we do.

problems in our society that we mask under the name of culture

changing the bad things doesnt mean leaving behind the good things

We make our own culture and build it... and not just sit around and be proud for nothing!!!i

There are more negatives in the culture of our society than there are positives, and that needs to be changed

and living without rules and regulations

its about expressing ourselves.... and saying what we think and feel without any fear... and at the same time.. respecting others privacy and character as part of thier freedom

Culture and believes is the mirror of our behavior and our thinking. Maybe you mean to improve it but not to change it

There is says in Arabic: how had no past, no present for him.

ok let me give you an example

fifty years ago, it was a total dishounor if a woman works outside the house, let alone get an education

and that was a major part of the culture

But that didnt make it good

and in fact, it did change dramatically

This is an example of a good change

we need alot more of this kind of change in Oman

because our society seems to be stuck in an old generation

and they are not open minded

This is called major improvement of thinking and dealing with women, therefore the society understand the important of women’s education in order to have an educated children who can understand the right from wrong, who can understand the unfaithful word.

About women freedom I may dont know much about it but first of all we are muslims and the freedom should be base on how or what our .religion says

In Islam, a woman has the basic freedoms of choice and expression based on recognition of her individual personality. First, she is free to choose her religion and Women are also encouraged to contribute their opinions and ideas and many more. There are many traditions of the Prophet(S) which indicate women would pose questions directly to him and offer their opinions concerning religion, economics and social matters.

So I think we should stop follow the west coz we have it all.

hello all,
from my point of view, Freedom is that you can say what you believe and express your openions and feelings. in addition, do what you believe it is right. however, this must happen with limitations becaues as we are muslims we have to consider our religion !

i believe that women in Oman have got the freedom they want. they are sharing everything with their brothers and have their right in everything. but sadly some women don't understand the right meaning of the freedom they have got. they do copy the west in evething, the way the wear clothes, the way they behave ...et.
