I guess you all are aware of the new radio service, Youth Radio
A great move by the Ministry of Information targeted towards the young people, all people

How do you like it? What comments do you have? Do you find it useless? Do you think it is only directed towards a certain group? I am not asking questions and looking for answers in such away, say what you feel, may be somebody out there would hear us, and listen to us……Who Knows

I think it's a great idea, but I dont know the contents of the programs!
Is it possible to get the frequency on the internet? because i dont think i can get it here..

It is a good idea to talk about the youth radio
In my point of view is a useful way to district people and to enjoy
And there is some programs which make people represent their views and opinion about some issues so people could learn from each other
The only thing, which I don’t, like that they just start at five o’clock and finish at twelve o’clock why don’t they make open from the morning and don’t stop al the day like
UAE FM

Angels eyes, I think as a new channel, they wont be able to make it open unless they know how popular it is and then think whether to continue or not with some changes to be made..

I think it's more about getting the youth together, they have so much to give. They still need to learn much too. Having such a channel would be a good opportunity to empty what the youth have into the public channel..

It should not only be about discussions, not many enjoy that, it has to be a mixture of everything, entertaining, educating, fun, inspiring.. etc. Why dont we have something like, a project to be done by the youth?? through the radio, whatever it is..

The only thing is, we still need the involvemend of elder people, as facilitators. So the target is to make it for youth, but people involved should be from different ages. We can make it better by joining them, participating, give feedback to improve it. Nothing is Excellent from day 1!!

I am afraid, and as far as I know it can only picked up within the Sultanate using and radio and through satellite in the Arab World and Europe

Yes Angels, it is only limited for few hours in the mean time and I wonder if they have plans to extend, what I know is that it is intended for youth and this could make such dedicated service to cover the 24 hours a day transmission a little difficult in the begining

I believe we have a 24 hours FM service just like UAE FM, the only difference we have a youth radio

Like I said NaWaR, it is not a bad attempt to talk to the young people, discuss their issues over the air, play some music and you know

Please, who ever knows more or able to add more please do so

LoL tenderness.. I didn't know what to write in the beginning because I dont know anything about the Youth Radio, I dont like giving comments about things Im not familiar with, but as a general browse, I said what I have at the moment..

I guess only oldies are active on internet these days

all people from different ages

They play music and open some discussion
and talk about so many interesting things

I hope as soon as they could make it works all the day
I am sure that all people young or not like it very much
Especially when u r driving u care u enjoy their programs

Youth Radio! ammm, the last time i listened to it was last summer, over nine months ago
i remeber that they had some good programs going on, but i couldnt understand from
where they came up with the name "Youth Radio". i dont know whats going on at the
moment, but at that time i thought it wasn't proper! i also, thought that most of their programms were pointless for some reason. i didnt like the way some of the programs
were presented nor how the calls on those programms were handled

anyway, it might just be me

Well, like you said, heads are not all the same. I believe there are so many young people, boys and girls are fascinated by this service, and I wonder if they ever meant teens only by YOUTH

I hope to hear from some one here, who listens regularly to this service, though our dear ANGELS_EYES described it as very good one and very interesting too

I am afraid I do not listen reguarly but it looked ok to me

The topic is still wide open and more views are required and welcomed

For the sake of this topic, and for the sake of Youth Radio I tuned in for about 90 minutes and listened to a weekly programme called
أحلى مساء

It is not bad really, and the main issue was "who made you angry", people call in and talk, it is fun

One comment i would like to make is that the show host, a lady, never got her name was something like being lost and could not land on a single accent, she was using a mix of accents, I wonder if she did it on purpose or she is only lost

If u want the true I have never opened the radio and listen to a particular thing
I prefer things with image more than just listening materials

Sure video comes first, but there are times when it is the radio that dominates

My car cassette player stopped working, I thought for a bit and said to myself, well, that is good, I got fed up with the same cassettes and I needed a cgange

I listened to all services offered by Omani Radio, not bad really, news and press early morning, a live programme in the afternoon, an interactive prg handles some of every days issues. The last one I listened to was about Blood Donation

In the evening they took us back to some great hits, classic ones

Youth radio was really good, interactive light progs, dedications (never received any though), jokes and songs, album songs for a certain singer

I am sure they do present more, but this is what I could hear

Tv dominates, no doubt, but radio dominates too. I wonder if we go one day to the tiny transisto radio again and do what few still do sleep in peace with the tiny device by our ears and pillows

Tenderness, I will tell you the result of one of my experiences. I realised that when you dont have TV at home, you get to have a lot of time to do heaps of things. One of them listening to the Radio. I was living in peace for a year in half without TV and God it was a beautiful life to be honest with you. All I did is go to the common room at 5.00pm to watch the news and that wasnt even everyday because I also check the news on the internet.

Radio was my buddy, whenever I go out, I switch on my radio on the mobile and just listen to everything. Although the channel I was listening to is not Omani, but I noticed it much more fun than watching TV, I do believe that Radio is a very good option to entertain ourselves. I aslo want to point out that some special people benefit from it, blind people who dont have the opportunity to watch TV, can actively interact with the Radio, plus there are dedicated people who have the ability to be interactive just by talking and you still enjoy it.. Trust me it was a beautiful life, and even now after I got the TV, I was used to not watching it a lot, one reason because I have no time for watching more than the news and another reason is that I can use my mobile only to listen to the radio channels, while im waiting in a queue to see a doctor, or waiting to be served in a restaurant, while driving or on any kind of transport, even when working out, it's nice to listen to it..

I personally would use more than medium to entertain myself and not stick to one thing because I like using different things, I know after sometime I will get bored thats why change is very important thing in my life..

Thank you NaWaR for the great ideas you have given us in trying to fill pur time. No doubt radio can be used even in busy times. One thing I do is listening to radio, sometimes, on TV, and Iam sure yo know what I mean

You can listen to radio without turning the TV set on, only the sat receiver and speakers and you are listening to hundreds of radion channels

I hope to hear from others what role does the radio play in their life and if they find it a provider of knowledge and fun

i wonder how many out there use their mobile to listen to radio, and what do we look for the moment we switch our radios on

I guess we have a new idea wuth every reply here, so go for it and let us leard
