  • Qaranqashoah

I hope you could read that word but I am sure al of you will figure what it is. Am I right. Well, today is the EID of all children for they go to many homes and sing the familiar sing of Qaranqashoah.
We also prepare for this day by buying , chocolates, juice, and chips. The first group of kids that arrived my house were very shy. I asked them to sing at first to give them sweets and chips but they just smiled with a shy smile that drawn in their innocent faces. Anyway, we couldn’t let them leave without giving their sweets.
My young uncle came to our house later and he was enjoying teasing the children who come to our home. He asked them as if he is scorning them to sing at first if they want to take the sweets. I just see the sight of fear in the kids eyes. I beg him to leave and go for he is scaring the children. Although he is 19 now but he is still innocent like children. He always likes to tease my siblings and my cousins.
My young sisters and brothers and cousins were very happy when they arrive home for they have got many things.
However, I felt sorry for my little cousins when their father called me asking me when is the celebration of Qranqashoah. My uncle thought the celebration will be tomorrow and he promised that he will bring his children to my home to go with my siblings. He just told me that they were sleep but he will tell them in the morning that the celebration is over. However, there will be a celebration of qaranqashoah in my sister’s school for tow day. So, my young cousins are lucky to have another chance.

How wonderful to see a big smile in the face of children.

What about you Nawar, how is Qaranqashoah in Australia?!!

One good thing is when others read you right, and this is what some do here like eL3aJoOoZ_NaWaR did here, and we will be waiting to hear from her soon $$-e . If we do not get united at home, then how one will explain this UNITY we have once abroad

Why for example you have a dear friend, or more than a friend abroad, and let us say from the same country as you are and just theis relationship dies out once back home

like I said eL3aJoOoZ_NaWaR, read me or read what I have ahead of time, I like the way how moslems from eastern Asia see Islam
I met Indonesians, malaysian both girls and boys and was very surprised to tell you the truth
I guess they were brought up in a different way from us

I said it else where, talk to the other gender like it is yours, do not create differences. Our pretty girls should realize one a boy talks them it does not mean it is love and s***, the same applies for boys

Sorry Iam not organized in my writing as did it just like that, and remember it is a talk, it is Ramadaniat where there is no rules and limits to follow
    :)

hear from me what Tenderness??? Im lost hehe.. Its not like I didnt have the unity back home Tenderness.. I did actually and very strong united relation between me and my siblings and friends and Im still in touch with my high school friends because we had this promise that we will always keep in touch and the time to have a reunion is very soon insha'a Allah and Allah ygaderni and I organise this reunion.. When I lived abroad I just understood the real meaning or let's say a different meaning for unity.. I thought unity could be among same genders.. you know when we are kids everything is 3aib with the boys.. i never believed in that anyway and always used to do what i wanted to do with the boys, i was like a tom boy :P

Yes indeed, they are brought up and told that this boy is your brother!!! when we are told this boy you cant play with because its 3aib.. lol thats funny though

Take it easy Tenderness and get some rest :)

Scream, I never experience Gerga3oon in my life :) so I dont know how it feels, but I have this feeling that I still wanna do it.. Im too old for it anyway hehe

I dont know about gerga3oon here because there arent many kids around and from my muslim friends they didnt seem to know anything about it :P I mean the aussies.. Yesterday was the big day for me, however. I have finished at last the whole year project that I was working on with my team. I went to the shopping mall with one of my team members, Linda and by 6, athan time we had coffee, thats all i had for the evening and went to sleep early because i had 3 hours sleep only. I had sooooooo many documents to sign thats why I had to be there.. Lots of enjoyable work :P

    Cheers
  • So Scream, how was the dish that you made?? (the one you were cutting the onion's for)i

I think one of the best things about Ramadan is that the kitchen becomes the holiest room in the house.. and who ever doesnt cook thru the year.. will have to have a little cooking experience during Ramadan.. its like a Food Festival.. honestly who would not love this about ramadan :)i

For gergai3an (a.k.a Qaranqashoh or Gerga3oon), i went to my gran-mama and she gave me lots of candy and nuts hehe.. this is one if the cases where i do appreciete her treating me like a child. Who wouldnt remember it when were kids?? going around collecting candy .. but i remember we used to go around the stores in Qurum.. LOL .. and never houses.. we never felt safe or comfortable going around houses.. i guess it depends on the neighbourhood.

I agree with you NaWar about how the muslim comunity in alieanation is more united and close than us here in Muslim countries..., especially among students. Maybe its being away from Family and Home thats make people eager to form those close communities to feel the spirit of Ramadan

None of you mentioned the ramadan tents, which (i think) another nice thing about Ramadan. Even though the ones in Oman could get boring sometimes, but they still give the nice feeling of Ramadan. Especially with the S7oor there and stuff

I Heard Ramadan in Egypt is the best of the best.. maybe next year i'll spend mine there

LoL Mrs Unfaithful.. it is certainly a food fastival that I've never worked for or done anything.. I've always used to run away because I always used to avoid cooking and until this day, i dont like it.. only 3 years ago, i learned the basics and now I cook to live only :P You will see me getting out cooking books to try out something different or new or something that i can modify it slightly but i will never cook because i want to. It's just because now i know how to cook, thats why I will have to cook... at least i cant run away from myself :P

yeah as students we do form our own community, but honestly, even families engage in that.. the life style is just too different even though they are muslims.. for example, there was a leadership camp organised by FAMSY an islamic organisation here. this camp was done for year 11 and 12, plus uni students. it involves males and females and i went to see how they do it.. it was so decent, so much fun and i loved it.. those were not students by the way, those i went with were citizens and muslims.. people look at it in a different way.. if someone wants to do something wrong, then there is always a God to watch and yeah we have to take precausions but there are people who take care of everything and make sure that restrictions are applied even if we are going to work together.. thats how united we were the other day!!!i

LOL My dear Mrs Unfaithful, do you still want to know what i was preparing for. Well, it was the favorite dish that everyone make it in ramadan..Did you guess it? ~!@q

    well, it is Samboasah :P
I started cutting onion since our housemade went to her country saying that she wanted to die with her children. Since that day and we are still waiting our housemade to arrive. HOwever, this time we didn't have a good luck in this issue of housemades. At first, we chosed one who is Andonesian and we were waiting her to come home impatiently. However, the bad news was that our housmade was arrested in the airport of her country for they found ger drunk  .
Thanks Allah that they discovered her reality before she came to our house.
We decided to choose a house made from different nationality but till today we call the office and ask them , when our housemade will come? Eachtime, they tell us different story :(

Do you know what did they tell us last time? $
They told us that our housemaid didn't come in time for a problem happened? I asked them, what was the problem? They said, a problem happened in Iraq and our housemade is afraid to come for Arabs are terrorists

I don't know what is the next story of the office ~!@n

I think you should stick to doing your own work and not depend on housemades.. easy!! :)

and by the way, it's not that im not used to it.. but i have seen so many good and bad ones, and i never in my entire life liked the idea of housemades, one because me doing all the house work requires me to manage my time very well and so it improves my skills in that sense. secondly, i do not believe in having differences between people, i would prefer to get a women who is omani, to help me around for certain occations and I pay her rather than having another woman in my house!! im not going to take the risk #j

  • Now going back to the topic.. yesterday I had so much fun and I couldnt sleep til 4 in the morning.. by the way, we start fasting here from 3.25am and we break fast at about 6.10pm because we are starting summer here.. We had this big gathering of all omanis in my area and we had those little kids singing a beautiful nasheed.. they were sooo adorable and cute.. .we had Iftar together and it was really nice especially for me to catch up with the people because I havent seen them for few months due to being busy with uni

No only that, but I think it's been more than a month since I last talked to my family. I know im being so bad, but I was too busy to care about calling anyone, all i was thinking about at this time is to finish whatever I have in my hands now and once Im done, i will try to call them.. yesterday i started my break and I went to the mall to meet a friend to need my help in something and while i was walking with her, i kept thinking, ok what next do i have to do.. i still couldnt leave the idea of thinking about other stuff to do and stress out myself.. my break will last for 3 weeks but im intending to make it 2 weeks or less, i need to do something before i start.. Im also going to spend much time with the students Im mentoring, Im supposed to meet them during this week and see how they are going in their studies and whether they need any help at all

the students Im taking care of come from, in alphabetical order: Bahrain, China, Emirates, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Taiwan.. hmmm quite different, some of them old enough and some of them really young and still teenagers.. I havent been in touch with them except for couple of them during last week and I feel that i've missed so much work and i need to make up for what i have missed..

Wish me luck guys!! am I being too personal when I say all these things? :P

Did you notice NaWar that guys who study abroad eventually become much better cooks than girls???s

I dont know why, its embaressing, but they seem to learn very well and become real good cooks.... and the girls can never compete

I wonder whats the scientific theory behind that.. maybe thats a sign that its time for the men to become house-husbands
  • Oh Nawar, about the Ramadan tents
Come on.. i cannot believe that you dont know what they are!!!!i

Ok its when Hotels and cafes make tents outdoors in a large area.. or maybe only seats and tables around that area.. and there are cooks outside next to them making Kunafa and arabic foods.. and sheesha of course.. and usually there is a live singer .. and people would spend the evening time there .. till early morning

9ara7a i feel silly explaining it.. lool.. its like trying to describe what a house is
bss i hope it clicked and you know them now :) :) :)

  • Wish me luck guys!! am I being too personal when I say all these things

I wish you luck :) , and let it personal, we want it personal, we want it real, we are living in a real world, and it is us who is making this world.............BUT
Never breach your personals, as to harm yourself or others
I like to be too personal and talk about my real life
    :)

Did you notice NaWar that guys who study abroad eventually become much better cooks than girls

Well, no wonder you do good at something it is temporary, and it is none of your business, the new and great cook will be around you one day, and I mean the great lovely wife
I hate housmaids, and will shut up talking about them

the inviromnet wasnt suitable for fasting because i had some ladies in my group and we had to do sport together

If we do not fast because we have to mix with girls and women in a certain way, and in descent manner then no Ramadan and no Ramadaniat :P . Well, some may argue with that and one may say well sometimes all depends on the age. We all pass different age stages and go from being immature to mature and do so many silly things in between

You are absolutely right dear, it is really difficult to not have a housmad and especially in ramadan.. We tried a part-time housemaid but she wasn't helpful so we tell her to not come any more. ~!@n

I really feel sorry for my young sisters especially now in ramadn when they start cleaning as soon as we finished our easly s7oor at 11..
It is Ok for me to clean and cook but when it comes to our priorities we could hardly find time to do anything that we used to do in the past..

Yeah indeed.. it is hard.. i never said it's easy but im enjoying it Honest :) thanks a lot for asking.. I really miss everyone in Oman.. and tell you the truth, although i want so much to go back as soon as possible but thinking that I have the chance to do something else, then I feel like staying here for longer.. another reason is im too worried and scared of the change again.. i adapted the changes easily when i came to australia and im sure i will adapt the changes in Oman easily too but you know what i mean.. with a person like me, it's hard to survive in Oman.. you will notice so many things about me that you didnt know, let me just arrive Oman and you will see it.. by the way, i still havent decided when to come back.. I keep on changing my mind often, but for sure insha'a Allah it will be between January and March next year 2005.. stick around, i've got so much to tell you
