What i know, it is translated to
BY THE NAME OF ALLAH
Alsalam alikum is depends. We can just translate it literally for many people in the world know that Alsalam Alikum is the ilamic greetings that Muslims uses. However, we can also say Peace be upon you ( I hope I am right in this coz i am afaid it might be wrong) -

i think the best way for translating it is to look up for any similar equivalence in english... matter of cultural
equivalence and not literal one is what is important.. even if the equivalence is partial..

And I wanna add something more to what had said
Which is that sometimes u might fined some proverbs which they don’t have equivalences so what u should do is to understand the theme of the proverb then put in ur own words

"u r right as i perceive..... as long as there are words to serve u doing this...that's why there isn't any "better translation.. maybe "good" but not "better"....
