    • Is Muscat boring ????i



      Question is, is Muscat really boring, or is it we are so used with a certain lifestyle we end up making it boring?. Its a thought to ponder I guess! s

      Maybe I should ask myself this question assuming I am in another country, what if I was in Dubai. For one, I would have dozen of movie theatres to choose from, not only that, if a certain bowling alley is fully booked there is always another one around the corner. And dont let me start with the amount of various restaurants a person can choose from.


    • Ok we cannt say that Muscat is boring, its just that there arent many choices to choose from, we are stuck with couple of movie theatres, few bowling alleys and limited amount of restaurants that I guarntee that not a single soul in muscat havent dined in them (its no wonder if a certain restaurant is opened the entire country knows about it, its pathetic really)!s

      No, not really, it is not boring at all. It is that we are familiar with the place that gives us that feeling
      Try to leave Muscat since we are talking about Muscat, try to be away for some time, and trust me you will miss every thing and long for going back. Now you are back, and once again you will find it not boring at all

      It is us, we need a change, and Muscat needs to change, and it is changing
      Boredom is something to describe something slow, something that is not moving, not changing. A football match can be boring with no exciment or goals, no a movie can be too with no action nothing

      If you go to Dubai as you suggest then you will be fascinated with few things and few days later you will be bored, and say I have seen all, I need something different

      If we talk about similar topics here we will be bored, changing tioics and listening to different views kill our bordome
      Going back to Muscat city, and to tell if it was boring or not is a relative matter, and again it is us the people to make it look so or not

      I don't think so that Muscat is so boring because everything is avilable in Muscat .......
      The most important thing is the nuture and work

      As you mantented before that Dubi as an example of other city ...... you will be very broad for many reasons ... too much crawding .. peple over there ... many business .... etc
      But ..... no families or caring about them just how to bulid big buldings

      I hpoe to understand what I mean..........

      You know.. i have always, always repeated this statement that "Muscat is boring" .. that i dont really know if i mean it or not

      But to be realistic and sensible...after some logical thought.. i dont think Muscat is boring at all

      The people are boring.. but not the city itself
      People IN GENERAL here are either very reserved... or very conservative... neither one is fun!!!i

      True, that the places are limited... which doesnt give much option... well.. this may be a little boring sometimes.. but as Tenderness said.. this is normal because we live here and we have been everywhere and know everything... we have to get used to it and bored of it sometimes!!!!i


      Dubai is Heaven for outgoers and active people... but Dubai's residents get bored of it too....because they are used to it!!!i

      beliave me i live in abudhabi and going to dubai from time to time

      noting is really interisting since i know no one over here

      so i just cant wait to get a holiday so i can spend it with my family in Oman

      thats what i really find nice about Oman

      lots of places that id rather go then stay with nothing to do

      i can say that i have no friends at all but i totally enjoy when in Oman

      there is no place better than muscat for omanis becuase u will find very kind people here and people in muscat like a nuclear family they help each other not like other places , aperson doesnt care at all about others . when i visited dubai i found my self like iam on the moon i dont know anyone there i felt very bored and that place is a materialistic place for there is no nature to look at only buildings and nice roads
      it is a say that says : a person woh doesnt find relax in his country he will find no relax in any other countries

    • hell !! what do u mean by mucsat is boring... loooooool Muscat is a city among the most important on the Sea of Arabia, having held this status and position from the 11th century AD up to its occupation by the Portuguese.. plus there r a major port, Mina Qaboos; Seeb International Airport and international airline Oman Air; its own stock market, the Muscat Securities Market; a TV and radio network, Oman TV and Radio; state-of-the-art hospitals; and superior educational establishments.

      after this short introduction about the importance on Muscate i would like to tell mr. omani_asli
      boring or not boring it depends on ones behaviour and attitude..and it seems that ..

      What does the History and political establishment of a city has to do with how fun it is?? unless you enjoy hanging out and running around in the Stock Market or in the Hospitals


      And i really hope you be polite when talking to Omani Asli.. Most of us are Omanis here too.... and just be smarter in general when choosing your words because you dont make any sense

      Most ppl would agree that for the younger generation lets say late teens to early 20's, that oman is boring and not much for them to do
      But Belive me: life is what you make it
      we all not supposed to just sit around and complain that muscat is boring then of course we are not going to have any fun! But if we get out there...meet our firends and do things that make us happy then we will enjoy it!s

      I'll get straight to the point. For every reason, there is a cause. Why do we feel bored. Is it really because there is nothing to do in ""Muscat"". OK why don't we create our own fun activities at home for example. If we are "ABLED" people can't find something to have fun with, think about the "DISABLED"!!

      It's all in the head!! I remember living in the most boring places and people used to seem very surprised when I told them that I had fun. Although I have lived in Muscat for my entire life, I still find it so cool because there are many places that I havent been to. Muscat is not about shopping centres or beaches or even people. It's about going to the furthest point in Muscat. Take it this way, if we are saying that Muscat is boring just because we got used to everything here, what people who travel the whole world would say? The whole world is boring? Nonsense. You can make the place that you visited millions of times so exciting if you do something exciting every time you go there.

      For example, why a cinema would so nice whenever you go watch a movie, because every time you go there you watch a different movie!!! Get it!! People were never boring because we are one of the people, that makes us boring as well, I believe! I personally think that I cannot generalize that people are boring because I do not know all people in Oman or Muscat in particular. I think that maybe we think people are boring because we dont have any common interests. Plus how people can be boring if you see different faces? Could be same attitude but we all know where we are living, it's a culture, we are not in the US, nor Australia and we cannot live as if we are living there either.

      I don't deny that there are many entertainment activities that we don't have, but we've gotta live with the situation and make it work for us instead of waiting for it until it gets good so we can go for it. I strongly believe that every piece of land on the globe is exciting, we just don't know much about it that makes us excited.

      I remember I lived in a town for two months, the socalled "most boring VILLAGE" but I loved it and I miss it so much because I used to go the same shopping centre everyday but different shops in each day, I used to have different meals every time I go out. I also thought of going to the downtown, which is like 2 km by 2 km land just to send some letters the old way "snail mail". I go out and talk to different people, nice and grumpy ones but I never complained because I loved it. Not that Im not used to it, I do talk to anybody whether in Oman or overseas, but the passion of doing something makes me happy.

      this is one the funnist things i ve ever heard..you are not sensible..wake up and dont be narroq and closed minded ..and you dont teach me morals o know how to talk to people so respect yourself before asking others to give you respect otherwise u will rmain inferior you and all the people who come here with rubbish about our great country..whoever thinks muscat is boring u can pack your bags and go away..

      Take it easy seebawi, there is nothing to be upset about. This place was created to share opinion from different people whoever they are. I think you agree with me that we do not all have to agree. If someone disagrees then thats fine. It's a personal opinion after all!! That should not effect you at all.. In fact it is good that we find people who find Muscat boring because we cannot see what they see.. I find muscat exciting and you like it and that's fine too. We do not have the right to tell others to pack up their bags and just leave, otherwise we would have done the same thing with the foreign tourists. Do we kick tourists or just leave a good impression even if they didnt like the place?

      Let also say that if we like something in Muscat, maybe someone else doesn't like it. For example, someone likes going clubbing in muscat because there are places where you can go clubbing, another person wouldn't like it because he/she finds it unnecessary!!

      I'm not on anyone's side here, but I just wanted to let you know that this is a website where everyone is free to express their opinion and before we expect others to respect us, we should do that first, and even if people do not respect us, we dont have to to react agressively. We should be smart enough to be nice with people :) I hope you get my point..

      It is actually very exciting the "Tourism Awarness" that have started last week. I am very optimistic that this will make Muscat's people more open and easy going... hopefully this would also make Muscat more exciting and fun... than just being a Zombie city

      I think Zombie City is exciting, at least we get to run a lot "exercise" and not eat all "diet", tourists of different kind "Tourism" although their are a bit scary, and somehow it is adventurous..

      hehe im just kidding.. Oman is really beautiful, we just dont have what western countries have. We have nature beauty, they have buildings beauty and electronics beauty. People, go out more often to see the real Oman. And you know whats the best part? Its getting to know the people of different areas in Oman, its so exciting!!!
