This movie is the story of Wladyslaw Szpilman ..... a Polish pianist .. who lives thru World War II.. precisely the Nazi invation on Poland
How he managed to survive the war.. after loosing everything... and what kept him alive .. is his passion for music... you see him in some scences hiding from the SS soldiers and his hands are playing on an imaginary piano ... mingling with the sounds of bombs and dying people
Now... the most touching part.. this is a true story... !! and whats even more facinating is that the director, Roman Polanski, too is a survivor of WWII death camp in Poland... and he have even added some little scenes and lines from his own life when he was a child and a prisonar of war
The movie is very touching... and sad... it tells the story of War and brutality .. and how ugly they are... but in it .. it also tells a story of hope and life.. and of human compassion that may flourish in a field of death and hatred
Adrian Brody who played Szpilman, won a best actor Academy award and the director won Best Director. Best picture was also awarded to it!!!i
